The VCE History Exam Revision Student Lectures will be launched with a live History Exam Skills Session followed by the release of the full suite of recorded lectures in each VCE History subject.
For most students, there will be at least three lectures that are relevant to their studies.
The History Exam Skills Session will include live Q&A. The recording of the History Exam Skills Session will be made available to those registered once it has been edited.
Students can choose to watch the recorded lectures in their own time until access ends on Wednesday 20 November 2024.

Lecture 1 – History Exam Skills Session: The Dos and Don’ts of the Year 12 VCE History Examinations Luke Cashman, Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School
Every year students make basic, avoidable mistakes in the VCE History exams that cost them crucial marks. Students will be guided through the things they can do to demonstrate their knowledge and skills and maximise their chances of success. Everything from the importance of neat handwriting to the best way to structure longer written responses will be discussed. The crucial significance of reading time, and how to use these minutes wisely, will also be considered.
This session will be relevant to all three VCE History subjects: Revolutions, Ancient History and Australian History.
Luke Cashman has been teaching since 2002 at a number of schools and has taught VCE History for fifteen years. Luke currently teaches Revolutions, Ancient History and Year 11 Modern History at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. He has presented numerous times at History Teachers’ Association of Victoria events for teachers and students. He is particularly interested in helping students achieve success in assessment tasks as well as encouraging them to see the links between the past and present so that they can make a positive impact on the future.

Chris Hart has been teaching VCE History Revolutions for over a decade at Yarra Valley Grammar. He co-wrote the 3rd edition of HTAV’s Forging America, has presented numerous times for the HTAV to teachers and students and serves as a director on its board. Chris is passionate about history and loves to discuss events that occurred in his native United States.

Maddison Schmidt has been teaching VCE History for nine years and has presented for the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria at past student lectures for both the French and Russian revolutions. She is currently the Differentiated Learning Activities Leaders at St Francis Xavier College, Beaconsfield and regularly contributes in the production of VCE History resources.

Diana Di Conza has taught the Ancient History units since their inception in 2016 and has enjoyed seeing the appeal of the subject grow steadily. Having taught History across Levels 7–12 and with a background in language and literacy, Diana is able to support students in consolidating the critical thinking and questioning skills introduced in earlier years. She has also presented for the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria at past student lectures.

Raquel Fenby teaches VCE History at Suzanne Cory High School and has taught VCE Ancient History, Revolutions and Empires. Raquel enjoys visiting historical sites around the world and has travelled to approximately 100 countries.

Isabella Webster is an experienced History teacher at Loreto Mandeville Hall. James Jacobs has taught VCE Australian History at Xavier College for thirteen years and has experience teaching History to students at all levels.
